Mobile approval solutions for enterprise-grade self-custody have been around for some time now, but they generally rely on a non-secured device and display screen (typically a mobile phone). Since such devices and/or front-end software can easily be compromised, it’s a common attack vector and users can be easily tricked into approving the wrong requests.

Ledger therefore set out to build a solution that could ensure optimal security by leveraging our battle-tested hardware with certified Secured Screen (Ledger Stax) and the reliable Clear Signing initiative.

The Ledger Enterprise Mobile App is a standalone application available for both iOS and Android platforms and exclusively reserved for Ledger Enterprise clients. It offers a crucial feature: the ability to approve requests using Clear Signing on the world’s first secure touchscreen hardware wallet. This process ensures that every request is displayed in a human-readable format for full transparency. Users can instantly understand all the details of what they are approving.

At the heart of this enhanced security solution is the revolutionary Ledger Stax. It’s Secure Screen is a fundamental component of Ledger’s industry-leading architecture to accurately display each transaction’s details in a format that’s easy for users to quickly understand and avoid mistakes. The Ledger Stax doesn’t just display information. It establishes a double-authenticated secure channel with the Hardware Security Module (HSM), which holds the master key used to sign transactions. This secure channel guarantees that what you see is what the HSM is going to sign. This is a critical security feature. Even with a compromised mobile phone or front-end, the user is always able to see on the Ledger Stax what will be signed by the HSM.

• Ledger Stax Integration: The Ledger Enterprise Mobile App requires the use of Ledger’s most advanced  personal security device (PSD), Ledger Stax, premium from every angle. The app connects to the user’s Ledger Stax via Bluetooth©, establishing a secure connection for Clear Signing requests on the world’s first certified secure E Ink© touchscreen display.
  
• Clear Signing: All approval requests are presented on the Ledger Stax’s Secure Screen in a human-readable format. This ensures that operators and administrators have a clear understanding of the transaction details before providing their approval or rejection.
  
• Push Notifications: The app sends push notifications to the users’ mobile devices, alerting them whenever a new request requires their attention, or providing updates on the status of their own requests. This feature helps to expedite the approval process and minimize delays.
  
• Biometric Authentication: To enhance privacy, the mobile app supports biometric authentication and Face ID. This enables users to securely unlock the app using their biometric credentials after the initial login with a Ledger Stax.
