CELO: a global payments infrastructure for mobile owners

Celo is a mobile-first Proof-of-Stake blockchain that aims to break down financial barriers by bringing the benefits of DeFi to the 6 billion smartphone users around the world.

Celo meets Ledger: a new ecosystem within your reach

Until today, you could only set up the CELO app on your Ledger Nano devices and manage your CELO coins with a third-party wallet. 

From now on, you can buy, send and receive your CELO coins directly with your Ledger Live app simply by creating a CELO account. There’s no need for an additional wallet. It’s fast, seamless and secure. 

You can now also buy CELO coins with our partner MoonPay through Ledger Live, using different payment methods such as your credit card or a wire transfer. All you need is to:

1- Create your CELO account on the app.

2- Go to the “Buy” tab in Ledger Live and choose our partner MoonPay.

3- Choose the amount you want to purchase and the payment method you want to use.

4- And that’s it!

What’s next for CELO integration?

Our partnership with CELO is just beginning. For Fabrice Dautriat: “In the near future, staking will be added, as well as multi-asset support and finally DApp compatibility.” 

In other words, you will be able to stake your CELO coins from within the security of your Ledger Live app and access a wide array of Celo-based Dapps in the Discover section, thereby widening your Web3 horizon. Stay tuned.
