What is Origami (ORI)

Origami is an Ethereum-based network for users to craft their own marketplaces, where aspects like payments, escrow, maintenance, and development are handled by the Origami Network. The ORI token is the native ERC-20 token of the Origami Network. Marketplaces on Origami are decentralized, encompassing sectors from freelancing to digital assets.

The platform is based on four primary modules, and contains native payments in Bitcoin, Ether, or the native ORI tokens.

Origami (ORI) features

Origami is a protocol for building decentralized marketplaces on Ethereum, and is backed by two French banks along with a team of entrepreneurs. The platform provides easy, automated back-office tasks, compatibility with e-commerce integrations like Magneto, a native payment and escrow system, and connection to real-world data via oracles.

Origami uses ChainLink for its oracle service.

Decentralized marketplaces have a suite of advantages over conventional online marketplaces, including drastically reduced transaction fees, customizable features, automated back-office tasks, and no KYC/AML processes -- making the entire experience pseudonymous if desired without sacrificing trust.

Review systems in decentralized marketplaces with Origami are also more accurate and secure than third-party hosted services, and escrow payments are facilitated by the underlying Ethereum network -- no intermediaries. Some of the marketplaces on Origami currently include Lapin Blanc, a market for handcrafted products, and Minis Moi -- a marketplace for selling baby products.

The ORI token serves as one of the primary payment and escrow mediums, and has a total supply of just over 5.52 million ORI. ORI holders can participate in project decisions, like the future direction of marketplace creation, and can integrate their markets with existing e-commerce platforms.

Eventually, ORI will become usable on multiple sharing economy marketplace platforms.
