Ledger Wallet™ – Closing the Gap Between Ownership & Action

The upcoming changes to Ledger Wallet™ are a continuation of our commitment to deliver an experience that is free from compromise, combining secure digital ownership, battle-tested touchscreen signers, and the ease of a modern software experience.

Before You Dive In:

  • The crypto industry long insisted that digital ownership came with an inherent tradeoff: security or convenience, never both. That was a design failure, not a technical limit.
  • Ledger has been closing the gap between owning your assets and actually using them, and the next batch of Ledger Wallet™ upgrades takes that work a step further.
  • Every new capability in Ledger Wallet ends in the same place: a transaction verified by you, on your Ledger signer’s Secure Screen, showing you exactly what you are authorizing before you confirm.

I have spent a lot of this year thinking about distance.

The small gaps between seeing your crypto and actually using it. Between holding an asset and understanding what it has done for you. Between finding an opportunity and acting on it without leaving the place you trust.

For many years, that was one of the hidden costs of self-custody. You owned your keys. You owned your assets. But when you wanted to do something useful, the experience often started to break apart. You would check your portfolio in one place, swap in another, earn somewhere else, borrow elsewhere, then try to piece the full picture together after the fact.

The principle was right. The experience asked too much of people. The distance between ownership and action was too great.

Over the past year, we have been closing those gaps. The goal is simple. Ledger should give you the ease of a modern software experience, with the security of a battle-tested signer underneath it.

Ledger Signers are the Foundation

Your keys stay on your Ledger signer. Your assets stay yours. Your intent gets verified by you on a secure screen.

That is still the most important part.

As Ledger Wallet continues to cover more use cases, the signer becomes even more important. More actions, more opportunities, and more services mean more moments where decisions need a trusted place to happen.

Your browser is not that place. A random pop-up is not that place. Your Ledger signer is.

That is why Clear Signing matters. Before you approve, you need to understand what you are actually signing, in a format made for humans, not machines, on a large, secure screen.

Transaction Check adds another layer of intelligence when something looks off. Together, they make the moment of approval safer, clearer, and harder to fake. That boundary is what lets the wallet become more powerful without asking you to trust the wrong thing.

Certified Proof of You

When it comes to proving your identity digitally, a Ledger signer does something no phone can. It generates cryptographic proof, rooted in a Secure Element, that you, and only you, authorized an action. Not a facsimile of you. Not a prompt engineered to look like you. You.

This is what Proof of You means. Not just securing your assets, but with FIDO2 passkey support via Ledger Security Key, anchoring your digital identity to something physical, verifiable, and impossible to fake remotely. As AI gets more capable, the value of that proof only increases.

Ledger Wallet™ – Choice, Clarity & Control Over Your Digital Assets

Ledger Wallet has grown far beyond balance checking.

It now gives you clarity, a clearer view of what matters most to you; what changed, what worked, what did not, and what you can do next. Services feel closer to your assets. Swapping, earning, buying, selling, trading perps, borrowing, discovering opportunities, tracking performance, managing activity.

All of this becomes easier to understand and act on from one place, because you have more choice, making more informed decisions, and more control, allowing your wealth to work for you.

You can use your crypto without sending it away from the place you trust most. You can move from one asset to another when an opportunity requires it, without turning the experience into a maze. You can understand your portfolio through its history, not just its current value.

Less jumping around. Less blind trust. Less friction between ownership and action. That is the direction we have been building toward.

Coming to Ledger Wallet™ in July

The next batch of upgrades to Ledger Wallet, rolling out in July, will continue to shrink the gap between passive monitoring and active use, guided by the principles of clarity, choice, and control.

More logical ways to view your portfolio balance and better ways to understand how it is performing.

Signals to help you discover what is worth your attention.

Tools to test your growth opportunities before you commit capital.

Simplified discovery of new assets with a crowd-sourced view of popular tokens and stablecoins.

All of it from one place, without leaving the environment where your ownership lives.

Every one of these moments ends in the same place: a transaction on your signer, on a Secure Screen you can actually read, showing you exactly what you are authorizing before you confirm.

As AI makes scams more convincing and spoofed intent cheaper to execute, one thing does not change. Ledger will never ask for your 24 words — not by email, not by phone, not in a pop-up, not in a chat. The only place those words are entered is your Ledger signer.

To understand why the signer is the root of trust in a world of AI abundance, read ‘Revenge of the Atoms’ by Ledger CEO Pascal Gauthier.

The Ledger Wallet™ app brings the world of digital assets closer to you. Your Ledger signer makes sure the world cannot act without you. That is the architecture bringing you more clarity. more choice and more control. Free from compromise.

Look out for the next Release Notes for full details of Ledger Wallet features being rolled out in July.*
