Barack Obama stands before delegates and the nation Thursday – the 45th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s historic “I Have a Dream” speech – to accept the Democratic presidential nomination, the first black man to claim such a prize. Beechwood Knoll Bombers will play the Merrymount Mud Hens at 5 p.m. Friday at  Pageant Field to benefit Autism Speaks. A Norfolk County jury indicted four South Shore men today for trafficking in Oxycontin. More than 500 OxyContin tablets, some marijuana and steroids, ammunition, $146,000 and five motor vehicles were seized after an investigation by state and local police.

Susan Komen breast cancer walk ends with trek through South Shore

The South Shore became the setting for the final leg of the three-day Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk Sunday.  Hundreds of walkers streamed along Quincy Shore Drive by Wollaston Beach at noontime. In the morning, they had started out at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro. The route ended at UMass-Boston.
